FAQs – Emergency Dental Care

What counts as a dental emergency?

If something feels painful, uncomfortable, swollen or worrying, it’s worth getting checked. Dental emergencies include things like severe toothache, facial swelling, infections or abscesses, broken or knocked-out teeth, dental injuries and bleeding that won’t stop. If you’re unsure whether your problem is an emergency, you’re always welcome to contact us and we’ll advise you.

Can you treat children’s dental emergencies?

Yes, we treat children’s dental emergencies with care and experience. We understand that emergencies can be especially upsetting for children, so we take a gentle approach and spend extra time reassuring both children and parents throughout the visit.

Will you treat me on the same day?

Yes. We assess and treat dental emergencies on the same day. Our focus is on relieving pain, controlling infection, fixing broken teeth or restorations and stabilising the problem as quickly as possible. If further treatment is needed, we’ll explain everything clearly before you leave.

What emergency treatments do you provide?

We provide a wide range of emergency dental treatments, depending on what you need on the day. This may include pain relief, treatment for infections or abscesses, emergency extractions, urgent root canal treatment and care for wisdom tooth pain. Your dentist will assess your situation and talk you through the best option to get you comfortable again.

How much does an emergency appointment cost?

Emergency appointments are £20. During your visit, the dentist will assess the problem and explain any treatment options and costs clearly before going ahead. We believe in being open and transparent, so you can make decisions without pressure or surprises.

What if I’m nervous or anxious about dental treatment?

You’re not alone. Dental emergencies can be stressful, especially if you already feel nervous about dental visits. Our clinic has been designed to feel calm and welcoming from the moment you arrive. We have TVs in both the waiting and treatment rooms to help you relax and distract you during your visit. Our team will explain everything clearly and only move forward when you feel comfortable.

Once your emergency is treated, your check up appointment is free because we’re here to prevent any further dental emergencies occurring again.
